Tax Day Budget Calculator

Enter the days already present, the days you plan and a buffer for trips that move. The output is a day projection against the threshold you are testing, not a residency ruling.

Projected days in the country—
Days remaining before the threshold—
Share of the threshold used—
Days over the threshold—

Day-counting rules and the period used differ by country. This tool tracks days and does not determine legal or tax residency.

Plan with a buffer

A travel plan is not a day count. Meetings move, flights are missed and a family visit extends by a week, so the buffer is the line that keeps the projection honest.

Enter a buffer you would actually accept, then check the remaining days. A small remaining number means every extra trip has to be planned against the threshold rather than decided on the day.

The count is only one test

Staying under a day threshold does not by itself prevent another country from treating you as resident. Home, family, work and habitual abode can matter independently of the count.

This tool deliberately stops at the arithmetic. It does not apply a treaty, weigh ties or decide status; those steps need the current national rules and, usually, a local adviser.

Frequently asked questions

Does this decide your tax residency?

No. It projects days against one threshold. Residency is decided by national law and, where two countries claim you, by treaty rules.

Should travel days be included?

That depends on the counting rule you are testing. Some countries count arrival and departure days differently, so adjust the input to the rule in force.

Which threshold should you enter?

The one used by the country and the period you are testing. Thresholds and reference periods vary, so check the current official guidance.
